Employment
Integrator for Foxsoft Ltd.
- Remote / Tamworth
- Jun 2024 - Present
In addition to my Product responsibilities, I adopted the role of Integrator when we started working with an EOS Implementer. I became accountable for implementing EOS tools and practices at all levels of the organisation and delivering on the vision set-out by the V/TO.
My duties include accountability for the weekly scorecard, documenting our core processes and ensuring it's followed by all, and facilitating the weekly pulse conversation for the leadership team following the Level 10 structure.
Product Manager for Foxsoft Ltd.
- Remote / Tamworth
- Jun 2020 - Present
As the company grew I successfully lobbied the leadership team for the introduction of an explicit Product role to improve our refinement processes and ensure we're solving the correct problems for our clients and their users. I was responsible for maintaining the roadmap for six clients, using it to prioritise work with the greatest impact and ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.
Ruby Software Engineer for Foxsoft Ltd.
- Remote / Tamworth
- Jan 2016 - Jun 2020
The role primarily focused on building and maintaining custom Rails apps for a number of commercial clients, many of which were running outdated FoxPro systems which needed migrating to a modern solution. These were rarely 1:1 conversions, so a significant part of the job was establishing the requirements and crafting solutions which met them while maintaining the budget.
Ruby Software Engineer for Intercity UK
- Birmingham
- November 2014 - Dec 2015
Senior Web Developer for School Stickers
- Birmingham
- Jul 2013 - Oct 2014
Web Developer for Ghost Design
- Leamington Spa
- Sep 2011 - Jul 2013
Education
First Class Honours Degree in Web Development (BSc) from University of Worcester
When I graduated in 2010 I was featured as a success story on the University of Worcester's Web site.
Hobbies
I have an interest in running, cycling, and my own health and fitness in general. I've been running on and off since 2015, but picked it up again as a regular habit in 2023 when I joined Chasewater Runners. Since then I've competed in multiple 5k and 10k races, the Stratford half marathon, and an off-road sprint duathlon.
Living in Cannock means I have easy access to the mountain biking single track trails across Cannock Chase, which I ride on a regular basis. But I'm just as happy on my gravel bike riding along greenways such as the Tissington Trail, or along the many miles of canal in the local area.
In the next year, in addition to continuing my regular habit of running and cycling, I have the ambition to race in a triathlon, bike-pack across the South Downs Way, and inspire and encourage other runners in my new position as a run leader for Chasewater Runners.
Fun Facts
- I have a recently-discovered interest in TTRPGs, and play regular campaigns in Dragonbane and Pathfinder 2e.
- I used to own a CNC machine, and used it to complete a variety of woodworking projects.
- I've had four articles published in HackSpace magazine (issues #13, #22, #25 and #40) and one in .NET magazine.
- I revised and run the local meetup group Worcester Source, which hosted monthly talks on a number of tech-adjacent topics, for 2 years.
- and before that I founded and run Birmingham.IO, an online community for the tech scene in Birmingham, for 3 years.
- In my third year of university I was the chairperson for the Worcester Ideas Network (WIN) student entrepreneurial society.
